Creative Places to Hide an “I Love You” Note

There is no rule that says you are only allowed to celebrate being in love on February 14th.  In fact, I think it is a good thing to do every day! But having Valentine’s day come around every year does give us a little reminder to put forth some extra effort and do something a little special. I thought I’d share something I have been doing for my husband for years.  I LOVE to leave little notes for him to find.  Nothing big or spectacular, but just a tiny note that shows I was thinking about him and wanted to tell him I loved him. He always loves finding them when he least expects it. Sometimes he finds them right away, or at least on the same day I hid the note. Sometimes it may be awhile before they are found and then it is a pleasant surprise to both of us!  Here are some of my favorite places to leave a note:

Dealing with the trash is definitely one of my least favorite chores.  Especially taking it out to the stinky, smelly big garbage can outside. Whenever my man takes it out (which he almost always does) then I feel he definitely deserves a big “I Love You!”

In the mood for a yummy PB&J?  How about a happy surprise with your sandwich?  This is easily done by using a toothpick on a new jar of peanut butter.

If you have children then chances are you have multiple toys lying around with the alphabet on them. Put those magnets/puzzle pieces/blocks etc. to good use and spell out a message on the kitchen counter or table!

Where do men spend a lot of their time? At least give them something to smile about while they are…taking care of business.  :)

Any fruit with a peel you won’t eat is perfect for this! Throw it into their lunchbox or simply leave it in the fruit bowl for them to find when they reach for a healthy snack.

Leave a note so that when they are getting dressed they’ll see a note from you helping them get their day off to a great start!

Fighting over who has control of the TV? Stop the fight before it even begins with this peace-offering.

Get off on the right foot (sorry, I couldn’t resist) by tucking a love note into a favorite pair of shoes!

Let them know you are thinking of them even when they are out on the road. Whether just a quick drive around the corner to the store or away on a business trip, they’ll know they are on your mind!

These are just a few places to get you started!  Look around your house and think about drawers, doors, and cabinets that are used frequently.  Hide them in other pieces of clothing, under their pillow, taped onto food in the fridge, etc. There is no wrong way or place! And don’t forget, if you are on a budget this Valentine’s Day (or for an anniversary!) then this is a fantastic way to still make the day sweet and memorable! Have fun!

Extra Love Notes Updated!

Every once in awhile I like to go through some of my old posts and update the printables.  I’ve been at this blog for over a year and even though I still have lots to learn my design skills have improved since the beginning.  So I’ve recently updated the printable notes that when added to a package of Extra gum make such an easy and quick way to brighten someone’s day!  It is a fun “just because” gift that will make them smile!

Extra Love Notes- a free printable from Darling Doodles Extra Notes for Kids- a free printable from Darling DoodlesAs with the first draft there are two sets- one geared more towards your significant other and one aimed at kids.  But you can mix and match some from each set if you’d like even more.  All you have to do is place the notes onto the package of gum and leave it somewhere for them to find.  On the seat of their car, in their lunch box, underneath their pillow, in the sock drawer, etc.  Just imagine their smile when they find a little something letting them know you were thinking about them!  I’ve found that the saying, “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted,” is so true!  Doing something simple but sweet for your loved one will really make them feel appreciated.

Random Acts of Kindness Cards

A couple months ago around Christmas I shared some Service Gift Tags  and some ideas on how to give a little bit more during the holiday season.  Well…Sam and I had so much fun doing some of those acts of service that I decided to change the tags up a little bit so they can be used all year long.   Like most times we give service, I think we were the ones who received the most.  It’s funny how that works isn’t it?

This post must have been meant to be because while I’ve been planning on doing this post for weeks now, I also just learned that next week is Random Act of Kindness Week!  Perfect timing!  So whether it is at Christmas, next week for RAOK Week, or just any ordinary day get out and do something good for someone else!

Random Acts of Service TagsDownload the PDF

Here is how to use the tags:

Tag #1: The next time you and your family are out enjoying dinner pick another table in the restaurant and anonymously pay their bill for them.  Ask the server to present them with this card instead of their check and watch their faces light up.

Tag #2: This one is similar to the dinner idea but it is more budget friendly.  If you don’t have the resources to pay for an entire meal then think about just sending over a yummy dessert instead.

Tag #3: Go into the gas station and ask them to put $10 of gas on pump __. (whatever pump you are by.)  Then tape this tag onto the pump and drive away leaving it loaded with $10 for the next person to pull in.

Tag #4: Put a few quarters into a Ziploc bag and tape the bag and this tag to a vending machine.

Tag #5: The next time you go to the movies buy an extra bag of popcorn or box of candy and ask the cashier to hand it to the next person in line, a family with lots of kids, etc.

Tag #6:  Be creative.  Think of someone who could use an extra smile or some act of service you can give.  Make this one all your own.

Oh For Peep’s Sake…

Did you know that there is an entire index of recipes made with Peeps?!?   WHAT??!  I know!  I went looking for some interesting fact about Peeps to use in writing this post (4.2 million Peeps are made each day by the way) and then I found the recipe index on the Peeps website.  And I got totally sidetracked for several minutes. Chocolate Raspberry Peep Crepes?   And have you heard of Peeps Jousting?  Yes, its a thing.

Well to add to the Peeps Madness, I made some tags for a fun and easy treat.

There are two of each of the tags in the PDF.  Enjoy!
