Last week Sam turned the big three-o. That’s right, he said goodbye to his twenties and entered the solidly adult thirties. We had fun celebrating this new chapter (even if he was in denial) with a special lunch and then a party with good friends. I made this cake and it was as delicious as ever! It got rave reviews from everyone.
Sam is a pretty simple guy and isn’t one for fancy, elaborately decorated parties but since the 30th birthday is extra special I wanted to do something for him. This ended up being the perfect project and he really appreciated it.
I wanted to share this idea because I think it is a great party decor that has meaning and is special and would work for any occasion! Anniversary? Birthday? Bridal Shower? This is easily adapted to them all.
I put up pictures in no particular order, just some of my favorites throughout the years. And I also made a few note cards with fun facts from his life, some pop trivia from the year he was born, how much things cost in the year he was born, etc.
I had the pictures printed at Costco, which is my favorite place to get pictures printed. Very inexpensive! To hang it up I simply strung some twine across the window and used paper clips to attach the pictures. Super easy. I put it all together a few days before his birthday and then snuck out while he was sleeping to hang up the banner and the balloons. It was a fun surprise for him to see first thing in the morning! It was actually really sentimental to take this walk down memory lane with him and see a little glimpse of the last 30 years. I’m so excited for the next 30 with this great guy!
