I had a lot of fun reading everyone’s comments about their take on my Valentine’s Day shelf. The votes seemed to be split pretty evenly, so thanks for all the comments!

Canvases can be pretty expensive but a lot of craft stores also put out coupons for them really often. If you get a good deal than grab a couple up right away! Why? They are so handy to have for craft projects and are incredibly easy to personalize. I’m going to show you how to make the piece that is sitting on my Valentine’s Day shelf but really this can be done using any color of paint, scrapbook paper, stencils, vinyl, stamps, and used for any theme/holiday. So keep that in mind as I show you the steps.
Supplies: Blank Canvas, Gray Paint, Letters cut out using Cricut, Flowers, Ink Pad, and Mod Podge.
After painting the canvas a light coat of gray the letters were put on using Mod Podge. To create the flowers for the O’s cut out flowers in decreasing sizes and ink the edges. Layer the flowers on top of one another and you have pretty, 3-D flowers.
That’s it! If I wanted to reuse the canvas I could have cut the letters out of vinyl which would peel off after being used and stuck the flowers on with Velcro dots. That way it would all come off and the canvas could be used again for any other holiday.
From many of the comments and emails I receive though one of the main deterrents of crafting is not how easy or difficult a project is, it’s that people just don’t have the time. Well I hear you. And I’ve got you covered. You can take this 8 x 10 print and put it in a frame and get almost the same look. So if you’d like: Download the PDF.

Love this! Easy enough that I could do it! I also love the versatility. Thanks!
So glad you shared how to make the canvas. What a fun project! Thanks.
Oh, love the print too!
Love your shelf but probably a bit too much for me in the crafting department. Love love love this printable though! A nice way to get the same effect…thanks so much for sharing; can’t wait to display it.
You’re very welcome Tabitha! I definitely have times where I don’t have the time (or even desire….shh!) to craft so I’ve always appreciated a good alternative. I hope it works in your display!
That is wonderful. You are so right on the big ” I don’t have time” thing. However, this project looks like a fairly quick one aside from the drying time. It is a beautiful project and it was super sweet of you to include the free printable as an alternative. You are one of my favorite sites to get inspiration from! I even have your site on my list of sites that inspire me tab. : )
Aww, thank you so much Amy! I really appreciate it and I’m so glad you are enjoying the site. Have a great weekend!
